Questa borgata, la più alta del comune di Rittana (1360 m) in Valle Stura (CN), si chiama Paraloup (“difesa dai lupi”, secondo la tradizione popolare locale). Tra l’autunno del 1943 e il 1944 è stata la sede della prima banda partigiana di “Giustizia e Libertà”. Vi militarono in qualità di comandanti Duccio Galimberti, Dante Livio Bianco e, più tardi, Nuto Revelli. Con loro, 149 giovani e giovanissimi che avevano deciso di contribuire con le armi in pugno a liberare l’Italia dal fascismo.
La Fondazione Nuto Revelli vuole fare di Paraloup il luogo di una doppia memoria: quella della guerra partigiana e quella della vita contadina che si svolgeva qui prima dell’abbandono. Sono state ricostruite le case della borgata con un progetto architettonico innovativo: un luogo di memoria viva, un esempio di sviluppo sostenibile. Paraloup è tornata a vivere perché resa nuovamente abitabile e animata da iniziative di incontro.
