Nel 2008 una comunità Rom ha occupato un capannone abbandonato in via delle Cave di Pietralata dopo lo sgombero dalle baracche dove vivevano lì vicino. Qui hanno dormito al riparo e hanno potuto iniziare un percorso di integrazione nel tessuto del quartiere: " ... molte persone del quartiere ci hanno aiutato: 3 bambine vanno ora regolarmente a scuola, gli uomini lavorano, le donne stanno iniziando un'attività di sartoria ... ora però abbiamo paura, perché tutti dicono che noi Rom, noi immigrati siamo pericolosi per la sicurezza degli italiani. Vorremo avere la possibilità di una vita migliore, soprattutto per i nostri figli, vogliamo continuare a sperare..."
